Why a Balanced Diet Is Important?

A balanced diet is one that gives your body the nutrients it needs to function correctly. Without a balanced diet, the human body becomes susceptible to disease and is more prone to infection and fatigue and organs and tissues operate inefficiently. A child who has a poor diet is more likely to have developmental and growth issues. Besides the above health complications, an unbalanced diet paired with a lack of exercise may also lead to obesity and diabetes.

A balanced diet includes eating plenty of fruits and vegetables; eating plenty of starchy foods, such as bread, rice, potatoes and pasta; eating some lean meats, such as chicken and fish; eating some milk and dairy products; and eating a small amount of foods that have high fat or sugar contents. Choosing a variety of foods from each of these groups ensures that people get the correct amount of vitamins, minerals and nutrients each day.

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health, and can help you feel your best.

A diet based on starchy foods such as potatoes, bread, rice and pasta; with plenty of fruit and vegetables; some protein-rich foods such as beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other proteins; some milk and dairy foods or dairy alternatives; and not too much fat, salt or sugar, will give you all the nutrients you need.

When it comes to a healthy diet, balance is the key to getting it right. This means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, and consuming the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
